Bogra Sadar Upazila (BOGRA district) with an area of 420.64 sq km, is bounded by SHIBGANJ on the north, SHERPUR and NANDIGRAM upazilas on the south, GABTALI and DHUNAT upazilas on the east, KAHALOO and Nandigram upazilas on the west.
Main rivers are KARATOYA, Chamati, Bangali. Bogra Sadar (Town) Bogra municipality consists of 12 wards and 46 mahallas.
It has an area of 18.85 sq km. The town has a population of 150138; male 52.37%, female 47.63%. Literacy rate among the town people is 63%. It has two dakbungalows. |

Historical events In the mid April of 1971, a number of freedom fighters captured about forty million Taka from the Bogra branch of the State Bank of Pakistan and handed over to the MUJIBNAGAR GOVERNMENT (government-in-exile).
During the War of Liberation the Pak army killed fourteen freedom fighters at Bibirpukur. They also killed nine freedom fighters and buried them on the bank of the river Karatoya.
